ELECTRICITY

In July 2010 we had a 1.5kW solar electricity unit installed in our home and we are now using as well as selling solar electricity back into the grid.

We recently received our electricity bill and we confirm:
1) We are selling at 66c/kWhr
2) We are buying at 28c/kWhr peak and 10c/kWhr offpeak

Based on our usage we are almost negating the cost of electricity we use from the grid (ie. net usage cost of zero, excluding the supply and meter reading cost). We purchased our solar unit from Origin for a cost of $3,490 (on a 24mth interest free payment plan) and based on our usage we expect to recover our costs in about 5 years. The panels come with a 25yr 80% efficiency warranty.

So, is there any doubt you should invest in a solar unit?
